The Independent Brewers Association is calling on Australians to support their local brewery.

After a decade of growth our industry pulled out all the stops to survive through the ‘COVID years’ and looked forward to some light at the end of what had been a very dark tunnel.

Instead, 2023 delivered significant increases in costs of raw materials (up by 40%), energy (up by over 50%) packaging and freight, staff shortages and increased costs of living.

At the same time we continue to battle the large multinational breweries to access taps in pubs, venues and bottle shops. THEN we face the 3rd highest tax regime in the world. Is it any wonder you are seeing many independent brewers close or be pushed in to voluntary administration?

So because of these challenging times, our industry needs your support more than ever.

What can you do?

  1. Shout loud and proud on your social channels – we've made a spiffy video or image for you to share with mates in the hope that it goes viral and created a temporary profile frame for you to use!  (or check our Facebook and Insta posts)
  2. Next time you're browsing the beer aisle consider purchasing one that displays the Independent Seal – it’s a badge of honour, signalling that you're supporting local, passionate brewers who pour their hearts into every drop.
  3. Support breweries directly by heading in for a meal or purchasing directly from their online store (Find your nearest Indie here)
  4. Always Ask For an Indie when you’re out in a bar, venue or a pub
  5. Sign up at Askforindiebeer.com.au to get updates on the campaign and how you can be an ambassador for Indie beer.
